The Future

I've decided that, after many years of blogging, I can no longer keep up the steam. It's been a fun few years, moving from Blogger to my own site and a few other things along with that. For thos who have come to enjoy the strange-yet-informative nature of my postings, check out the podcast I do with Mike Donaghy, Tech Tangents. The contents of this site are now archived.

The Big Thing

The Big Thing that has been under development since the last post is finally ready. Point yer browser to http://tt.dankeenan.org/ and take a look. Those who know me know that I have tried several of these over the years, and they have failed after one or two releases. Well, there is a second in the pipeline already!

Those who are observant may have noticed that I have not mentioned what it is here. So clicky the linky!

BIG!!!

Something big is coming.

Update: Something relatively not small is coming! (In a relatively longer short period of time)

An Interesting Thought

In the Drupal development mailing list, an interesting conversation has been taking place (See the first post) that I believe applies to all Open Source Software. In short, with the exponential growth of the Drupal community, a number of module/theme/whatever maintainers are becoming more like module/theme/whatever "submitters." They are merely submitting these things and then not touching them for an extended period of time, if ever.

Dipity

Dipity is a free, online timeline creating service. It can scan your Flickr, Twitter, etc. profiles to create a timeline about you. The timelines it creates are very slick. For example, here is one about the Iraq War:

Busy, Busy, Busy!

I've been busy working on a number of projects recently, including a Port of Andreas00 to Drupal. It is still in development, but you can see current progress here. I've also been working on an app with my friend Dan Finnie (a.k.a. Dan 01) tentatively called Lightconsole. Expect me to write more abut these two items later.

Boxy Furniture

This is Casulo, a 2'7″x 3'11″box that contains an armoire, a desk, a height-adjustable stool, two non-height-adjustable stools (more like boxes), a six-shelf bookcase, and a bed with a mattress.

Dick DeBartolo

This is an interview that was Done with Dick DeBartolo (of MAD Magazine, and more recently, The Daily GizWiz fame) about the history of MAD Magazine.

Drupal 6

"After one year of development we are ready to release Drupal 6.0 to the world. Thanks to the tireless work of the Drupal community, over 1,600 issues have been resolved during the Drupal 6.0 release cycle. These changes are evident in Drupal 6's major usability improvements, security and maintainability advancements, friendlier installer, and expanded development framework. Further, from bug fix to feature request, these issues follow-through on the Drupal project's continued commitment to deliver flexibility and power to themers and developers."

"Dangerous Science"

Wired Science ran a piece on "Dangerous Science" and how kids involvement in chemistry has changed through the years. It's a little long, but I suggest you watch the clip below, as it is extremely interesting to see.
